“In 2016 I found a lump on my right breast and immediately went in for a biopsy. A vessel was cut and I lost a ton of blood. After that, before the [test results] were even returned, the doctors told me I was going to have a different type of summer.

I tested positive for a brca1 mutation that was followed quickly by chemotherapy that made me so sick I was hospitalized.

I [then] had surgery for a double mastectomy, immediate reconstruction started. The biggest nightmare of my life has been chemo brain – I’m still not right and can’t fill out paperwork on my own or barely handle living on my own at 46 years old.”
