"Although cancer puts an everyday fear in you that most don't understand I refuse to let it keep me down! "
In 2018 2 weeks before I turned 35, I felt a lump at the base of the neck where my thyroid was. I asked my husband if he felt it and he did. From there, things moved really fast for me. I had a neck exam, lab work, ultrasounds, and then biopsies. I had my whole thyroid removed and 11 days later had a radical neck dissection to remove cancerous lymph nodes. I was told this is “Good cancer.” What I wasn’t told is how it would change my life, the life I have always known and lived. I wasn’t told that I would later find that this “Good cancer ” would spread to my lymph nodes and then invade my vascular veins. I wasn’t told that 6 months later it would spread further up in my neck area. I had 2 rounds of cancer treatment and the second round destroyed my salivary glands and now I have to always carry a drink and deal with face pain all day every day. No one tells you how much cancer really takes a toll on you mentally, physically, and emotionally. No one tells you how draining it is. No one tells you how it hits your depression in a big way! However, I am stronger than this cancer and I will not sink because the Lord is the anchor of my soul. Although cancer puts an everyday fear in you that most don’t understand I refuse to let it keep me down! I will overcome this.
